What an honour it was for me to receive a call from IMANI MEDIA to play a challenging role on SABC 2'S "ERFSONDES"  . The character challenged me as a woman and will  also challenge   YOU as a viewer...Let me describe her to you ... her name is "JIRA"
"She’s black and beautiful. She’s had a mastectomy but doesn’t wear padding to conceal it. Instead she wears her mastectomy proudly. She has a sweet, warm face and a strong body. She is 100% woman – warrior woman at that. She is strong but also intuitive and has a strong sense of her kickboxing students, i.e. their strengths and weaknesses. She knows when they are pushing too hard and when they need to work harder."



KHABONINA plays JIRA on Erfsondes SABC 2

 What excites me about playing this character is that she embodies both physical and emotional strength. She is often conflicted with being 'a woman' versus being 'a survivor' ! She uses her skill of being a KICKBOXING instructor to drive her 'SURVIVE OR GO HOME' message across as she deals with women of all ages and all races who are fighting the same illness. Jira must always be aware of herself , never let her guard down. To her ....being  "A Leader" .... is not a game , in fact.... its Her middle name !!!

It was an honour for me to meet the awesome cast and hard working crew! Thank you for making my "stint" a pleasant one !
